Into the Mist
Funny enough, this image was photographed within minutes of “Misty Trees”. Cadillac Mountain was our finish line on this day of rough weather and uncertainty. The rewarding summit of Cadillac Mountain was a capper to our favorite hike ever. As we reached the summit, the fog continued to roll. No one was around. We suspected the fog was too much for others. Then, we were quickly rewarded when the fog began to lift which allowed for complete 360 degree views. There is no feeling like sitting on top of a mountain, in the thick fog one minute and surrounded by beauty the next. As the fog lifted, my fascination with the trees embedded in fog persisted and I used my 105mm lens from the 1970s to pick out this image. I instantly believed that I belonged here in Maine. For the next week, it was my goal to delve into its hidden wonders and to soak in as much as humanly possible.
